The new fire-fighter building in Lajen is going to be realised near the village centre in Nassenroad, partly laid subterraneous into the scenery. The so created green area on the roof serves to increase the already existing playground. Deliberated details in the design complete the functionality of this project. As antagonism to the general exposed-concrete style, it was chosen natural stone for the exterior design. Material such as this one are characteristic for rural areas like Lajen. Furthermore it has to be considered, that children may be tempt to play in front of the departure, where emergency vehicles could start off in every moment. To take away their curiosity, two roof-windows are planed above the hall, from where the children can look at the cars from a new and safe perspective. Not least it gets renounced consciously to a common parapet at the roof-margin. Instead of this, the terrain directly before it gets lowered. Thus it results like an attica as fall protection and creates an impressive sensation of endlessness, as you stand on the playground and look over the edge.
