RESTAURANT ‘MIIL’

A bridge between tradition and innovation

At the Kränzelhof winery in Tscherms near Lana, enjoyment, art and culture come together in one place and are harmoniously brought together. It includes, among other things, a medieval estate, a mill from baroque times, large-scale artists’ gardens and, of course, vineyards. The listed mill is home to the renowned restaurant “Miil”, which combines high-quality regional cuisine with the estate’s wines.

A careful restoration was to give the restaurant’s interiors a new splendor, building a bridge between historical tradition and modern innovation. Targeted LED lighting dramatically sets the scene for the old walls and adds rhythm and dynamism to the rooms with varying intensities.

At the entrance, a long counter made of local porphyry welcomes guests. This breaks through the building’s shell and continues into the guest garden. The restaurant area is spread over several levels. Railings made of black glass discreetly separate the areas and lend the restaurant a subtle elegance. The kitchen is relocated to a new extension, which is slightly recessed into the ground to give way to the existing building fabric. A long window offers glimpses into the bustling kitchen.
